What is your role/job title at MRI?
Vice President, Digital Strategy
What do you do?
The running joke around the office is what don't I do. When you've been around for 14 years, you end up getting involved with many different parts of the business.
My primary job roles are overseeing our developers and system admins, defining the company's digital directives and projects, assisting new business efforts, and whatever else needs to get done.
What is fulfilling about the work you do?
It's always great seeing a project you've been working on come to life and be revealed to the public. However, the creative thinking and problem solving that go into what we do on a daily basis is mentally stimulating, even if incredibly challenging at times.
What is your biggest accomplishment working at MRI?
Being the first in-house "geek" at MRI and being part of the growth and success of the company for 14 years (so far).
What do you love about your position/the industry that you are in?
Marketing and Promotions is a fascinating space to be in. Whether it's working on programs to boost sales or brand presence, or finding ways to integrate the latest technology to engage with consumers, there's always something new to learn about and adapt into our industry.
What do you love about working at MRI?
The people, starting with our CEO, have always kept me coming back day after day. We've always had a fun environment to work in that can be felt even in the midst of some challenging projects.
What is your educational background/training?
I studied computer science at North Central College in Naperville, IL.
What do you enjoy to do outside of work? What are your hobbies/interests?
This past summer, I completed my first marathon in Missoula, Montana. So I do a fair of running seemingly whenever I'm not at work. I also like to Netflix binge, read, and think about other ways to update my house. I also enjoy many forms of whiskey (Scotch, Bourbon, Irish, the list goes on).
Have any hidden talents?
A few people know this, but as a child I honed a skill for drawing an outline of the United States on an Etch a Sketch. I was once good enough to draw all the states within the US too. I can also draw the US by hand with relative accuracy to this day.
If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go?
Iceland. I'm mesmerized by photos of that country's landscape and their views of the Northern Lights in the winter.
What is the best concert you’ve ever been to?
Sigur Ros @ Red Rocks Amphitheater in Denver, CO back in September 2008.
